BioEngineering

Project Examples

Ramsey Creek Park Shoreline Stabilization Project on Lake Norman: Mecklenburg County was faced with a shoreline erosion problem which due to permitting and construction issues there was no easy fix. HARP was consulted and ultimately hired to create a bioengineered solution which would not impact the lake adversely. Utilizing a method developed by HARP's scientists, botanists and construction team we created a "natural" shoreline that was planted with native plant species. The end result is a vegetated, stabilized shoreline that provides habitat and cover for insects and small birds as well as a visually pleasing area at the park.
